TGIF

November 30, 2007

It has been a very long week. I’ll be glad to have the weekend to unwind, grade papers, and plan. I went to the eye doctor today. I do have an infection in my eye. They gave me a prescription for some very pricey eye drops. I have to use them 4 times a day and leave my contacts out for a week. This is going to be tough, but I want my eye to get better. We are suppossed to get a lot of snow this weekend, but so far it has just been rain. It would be nice to get a bunch of snow and stay in for the weekend. (and possibly Monday)

I heart Colorado!!

November 29, 2007

We had one of our last basketball games this evening. Our A-team kicked butt! We beat Aspen by at least 10 points. I’m so proud of my boys. : ) After the game, the girls and I headed out for sushi. It was very yummy. I used to not be much of a sushi fan, but like I have said in other posts my tastes are changing. I had a good time catching up with the girls. We haven’t really had a chance to see each other since before Thanksgiving. After dinner, I headed home. A few of the girls were meeting up with their boys to watch the end of the Packers game. I’m tired and my left eye is bloodshot, so I didn’t think staying out late was the best idea. I almost always see a fox or two on my way home. (when it’s dark) I didn’t see any in my usual spot and was a little disappointed. I turned on my street and got all the way down beside the park …and guess what was casually strolling across the street and into the park!!!! A HUGE DEER!!! I was so excited that I hopped out the truck and ran to the fence. Then my smarts came back and reminded me that I might not want to meet a deer face to face without a gun. So, I ran back to my truck, grabbed my stuff, and called Mom instead. Then, I jumped off the phone with her and called Marshell and Sara. Bubba informed me that it is mating season and that it was probably best to not go after the deer. It was really cool. I’m still not used to the fact that I live in the mountains which means that I live surrounded by bears, foxes, deer, skunks, and many other creatures. I think it’s neat to see them just strolling down my street like they are just out for an evening walk. lol

I love the white stuff!

November 28, 2007

I went to bed early last night. I didn’t really sleep well, but I stayed in bed for as long as I could. I started getting ready for work and made coffee. I was rushing around the apartment and decided to crank my truck. That is when I looked outside. Everything was covered in perfect, beautiful, powdery white snow. Yeah!! umm…hmmm….I still don’t have snow tires. I just drove really slow and took my time. No problems. I had a few times where I could tell that it was slick. It was usually when I was stopping or turning, but I made it. The snow melt pretty quickly, just like it did in Memphis. It snowed a little again this afternoon, but just enough to be pretty to watch. I’m sure we will continue to get it for a while. I’ll hate to leave it for Christmas. I truly could have a white Christmas this year, but I’ll be in Memphis. I guess I’ll have to settle for a white new year’s!

i’m exhausted post. There is so much to do and not enough time. I ran by my friend Mary’s apartment tonight. She is awesome and not just because she is allergic to wool and gave me two bags full of sweaters tonight. She is one of our SPED teachers and cares about the kids as much as I do. So, if I didn’t call you or call you back it was because I was trying on sweaters and shoes. I didn’t talk her out of any shoes, but dear god, she has an awesom shoe collection. WOW! Had a ton fun and came home with some new clothes. : )

sorry!

I’m tired. I have a hundred things to do and not enough time. I have some pics of my nieces.  I’ll post them when I get a few minutes tomorrow. I hope everyone had a happy Monday. Mine was exhausting.

Catching a plane

November 25, 2007

I am back in Glenwood Springs and wishing I still had another day to get some things done. My day went well. It was just tiring.

Woke up: 5:30 am (central standard time)

Out of bed in the shower: 5:55 am (cst)  I was in the shower, maybe, 10 minutes when I ran out of hot water. Mom’s hot water tank is finicky. It provides lots of hot water one day and just a little the next. So, I jumped out of the shower, washed my face with ICE cold water, and started working on drying my hair. While I was doing all of this, I had Mom boiling hot water so that I could jump back in the bath tub to shave my legs. Yes, I had to do it. I can’t stand to have hairy legs.

6:30 cst - I have my make-up done, my hair dried and I’m climbing back into the tub with my boiling water. And, we were out the door by 6:55.

7:15 cst - checking bag and making my way to security. There was NO ONE in line for security at the united terminal. I made it right through, grabbed my favorite form of caffeine, and read for 25 minutes before boarding.

Flight: 8:11 AM cst - 9:47 AM mountain

After my flight, I was picked up at the airport and driven home. It was a pretty drive.  I like seeing all the snow on the mountains and trees. There were people skiing and snowboarding.

Tonight, I have read blogs and emails. I went to the store. I talked to Mom. I’m tired. I was suppossed to call a few people back, but I think I’ going to try to chill instead. Love you all, but I need to rest before I go back to school tomorrow.

christmas shopping?!!?!

November 24, 2007

first, let me start with i’m tired. too tired to type with capital letters. mom and i shopped most of the day today. we got some great deals at macy’s. they had all of the same sales today as yesterday, but none of the crowd. : )  i’m running out of ideas for people and i don’t want to buy anyone something that they won’t use or just don’t want. i’m thinking there may be gift cards to finish up my shopping. i did leave all of the presents that i bought at mom’s and just have to wrap them when i get back in town. i’ll be back at midnight on my next flight!! yep, that’s right. i’ll save all of those details for another post. i leave out in the morning to head back to denver.

I got nothing…

November 23, 2007

I went shopping this afternoon with Mom. I’m having a very hard time trying to figure out what to get people for Christmas. We are going to try again tomorrow. I can’t believe that Christmas is only a month away!! This year has gone by so fast.

Went to a movie last night. We were trying to go see American Gangster, but it was sold out. We ended up watching Hitman, based off the video game. It has my man, Timothy Olyphant in it. He is one of the main characters in Deadwood and played in Catch and Release. I have thing for him. I think it’s his good “bad guy” characters. It was strange to see him with a completely shaved head. He has a beefed up a lot since Catch & Release. He was very skinny in that movie, but not in this one. His arms were much bigger and you all know how I like big guns. lol

I’m out for now. : )

Yummy!

November 22, 2007

Thanksgiving dinner was great! There were fewer people than normal, but it was nice. I spent some good time with my beautiful niece and the rest of my family. I am, however, disappointed in the ads from today’s paper. I just really didn’t see anything that I wanted for me or for anyone else. I guess that is okay. I can sleep in tomorrow morning and shop later. I need to buy most of my Christmas while I’m here so I don’t have to ship it here  later. Sorry this is short, but  I am visiting my family. (and I’m so freakin’ tired!!)

On the Road again….

November 21, 2007

It is now Wednesday, the big travel day. I’m headed back to Memphis for turkey and dressing. I’m typing this ahead of time because I know that I am going to be exhausted on Wednesday. Here’s a run down of my agenda for the day….

5:30 AM (ouch!) Head to Denver and hop on a plane.

10:25 Plane departs - grade papers, listen to my ipod, read, write, start a Christmas list

1:40 Plane lands - hug KT, since she is picking me up at the airport.

No idea what I’ll do that afternoon. Hopefully, I’ll eat, visit, rest. Then, I’m headed downtown for a concert on Wednesday night. Should be fun. We’re going to see a band that Jason and I used to support a few years ago. I’m excited to see if they have changed at all.

The only other plans that I have set in stone are eating lunch at Mom’s house and playing with my nieces. : )
