My Trip Part II
April 1, 2008Saturday evening was spent at KT’s house. We had a grand party with lots of friends and liquor. It was a stock the bar party, so there was plenty to choose from. It was great to catch up with everyone. (even if I don’t remember having a few pictures taken or something about a video???)
Sunday was Easter and the family always gathers at Mom’s house for lunch. I sat in the dining room with Alison and didn’t move the entire day. I fed her yummy sweet potatoes and we played all day! Aunt Chrissy & Alison
Monday was spent sleeping in a little, not a lot, just a little. I then when to lunch with some friends and went shopping and wandering around downtown. It was fun to have no agenda, but to just walk around and end up on the river. Monday night was a family dinner. Lovey and Alison had a grand time playing together, until they had their first fight. It was so cute to watch. I went home with Marshell and Sara for the evening so I could keep Alison on Tuesday. We had a big day of shopping planned. (or so I thought) We made it to see everyone at Sara’s work and they all told us how beautiful she is and how much she looks like Marshell. She does look like her daddy. I took her to my old job at PHG and visited with some friends. We went home for lunch and a nap, made it to the mall, and then back to pick her mommy up. My last night in town was dinner at my favorite Mexican restaurant and then hanging out with KT for about an hour.
I got up EARLY the next morning for my flight. By early, I mean 4 AM. My flight was at 6. It was pretty empty on the flight. I managed to sleep about 20 minutes before we landed and I began my 3 hour drive home. The drive was beautiful and not nearly as scary as the one in December. I was exhausted and took a nice long nap that afternoon. : ) I don’t know when I’ll be back, but KT is trying her best to get me to go to Destin in August…..

Wish me luck tomorrow! We are taking 100 middle school students to a mountain….putting them in cardboard bobsleds held together with duct tape…and letting them race down. (and they think we are rednecks in the South!) I should mention that the kids engineered the sleds all by themselves after watching the movie Cool Runnings. I will definitely have my camera with me!
More of Nothing
March 31, 2008A few things….
- I’m getting sick (again). I suddenly developed a cough again on Saturday and it is only getting worse. My head is heavy and very congested.
- I woke up with 5 or 6 inches of SNOW on the ground this morning. Yes, it is the last day of March. Yes, it is officially Spring.
- It continued to snow ALL day long. Aspen received 13″ today. Talk about fresh powder! At times, I couldn’t see out the windows at school. It’s been warm enough that the streets were fine.
- I survived the first day back from Spring Break.
- Vegas, I’m coming soon! One of my fellow teacher friends bought us all tickets to a show. (I now have to come up with money to pay her back and didn’t ask for the ticket in the first place. hmm…)
- Did I mention that I can’t breathe? Because I’m really having a hard time.
- Today was the first day of the LAST quarter of school. Time has gone by so quickly.
- I don’t know why I’m using bullets or what else I have to talk about right now.
So, I am going to leave you with a picture of the most precious baby girl in the world. (I’ve been showing her off ALL day.)
Toes?
March 26, 2008Lovey Update
March 13, 2008Just wanted everyone to know that Jana just called. Lovey is doing great. She said that they are exhausted, but headed home. I’ll let her give all of the details about what a wonderful little girl that she has.
Happy Birthday, Lovey!!
January 22, 2008Dear Lovey,
It is hard to believe that we have been blessed with your life for a full year. You are the happiest little girl that I have ever met. It seems like only yesterday that your daddy called to let me know he was taking your mom to the hospital so that you could come into the world. When I arrived at the hospital, your mom was not so happy. The doctor gave her some medicine and made her so much better. We all gathered in the hospital room and waited. AND waited. I climbed in bed with your Mom and talk to you for a little while. Everytime I would touch you, well, you would get very still and comfortable inside your Mom. Eventually, you decided it was time to enter the world and meet your family. You have been blessed with a very big, loving family. Not every little girl is lucky enough to have 4 grandmothers and so many aunts and uncles that I can’t even count right now. It has been an exciting adventure to see you grow this past year. You started out so tiny. I would rock you and talk to you about your Mom and I growing up together. You have grown into a beautiful bundle of energy. I’m sorry that I am not around to spend as much time with you as I once did. I still know what you are up to. Your mom keeps me very informed and sends me pictures. I hear you talking and playing everytime I call. You are a very busy little girl. I hope that you continue to love books. Your mom and I both love to read. I want you to be safe in your discovery of this world. I want you to know love and happiness. I want you to know that just like your mother, I would do anything in the world for you. I miss you and love you!
Love,
Aunt Chrissy
P.S. Help your mother get over her anxiety about flying and come visit me this summer!!
A few pics
January 9, 2008The cutest bundle ever!
December 1, 2007Isn’t she sweet? This was taken my last night in town. We were headed out to dinner and had to bundle up. I stopped by to kiss her bye and left her about 4-1/2 hours later. Her parents are out of town celebrating their 1st anniversary this weekend. I hope that they are having a great time and that Marshell is getting to sleep through the night.
Alison!
November 5, 2007Just like Alison’s parents, I am worn out. I had a full day at school. It was the last day to enter grades before report cards and parent/teacher conferences. We didn’t have kids today, but we had a long productive math meeting. The superintendent came and sat in for a portion of it. I can’t imagine Dr. W. from SCS showing up at school just to see how meeting are going. She is very involved. We had the Assistant Super at our last ID day. Things are definitely different here.
Here are a few small pics from when I was in Memphis.
Day One
November 1, 2007I have joined NaBloPoMo and will be posting EVERY day for 30 days!!!! It might get difficult and boring. I’ll try to keep things lively, but I can’t make any promises. Tonight, I am very tired and will just give you a brief overview of my trip. I’ll post details and pictures later this month. hehehe…that’ll keep you coming back. I flew out on Saturday and arrived back in Glenwood around 2 yesterday.
1. Airline lost my luggage and then ran over it. (on the way to Memphis)
2. I have the most adorable nieces. Ali is so tiny. Ryan is so much fun. Eva is on the go and walking everywhere.
3. I had to scrape ice off the windshield this morning. Boy, did I get spoiled with the 70 degrees weather in Memphis.
4. I’m going to Vegas, baby!! (I have no details. The school is sending me. : )
5. I have grades due ASAP and this is a WHOLE NEW grading system. I feel very behind.
6. I realize that I have some of the most awesome friends/family in the world. We had 40 people at family dinner on Sunday.
7. Ben Harper puts on an incredible show, but there is something wrong about smoking pot in The Orpheum.
8. I saw people skiing and snowboarding on the way home. There were also snow ploughs on the road.
9. My sub graded ALL of my tests while I was out. He is the best.
10. My principal invited me over Thanksgiving dinner. He really is a nice guy. I told him I was moving into his garage when my lease was up. (joke about his wife trying to get rid of his couch and it’s in the garage)
Okay, back to grades, dinner, and bed! Love you all!!!
