I know I haven’t posted all my pics and I haven’t told you about my new ride…believe it or not I’ve been busy.
On the way back from the lovely humid Memphis, I watched (for the first time ever) Batman Begins. It was really good, not at all like the other Batman movies out there with the neon and horrific costumes. Why did I watch this movie? Well, besides the fact that a 20 hour drive is long and boring, The Dark Knight came out on Friday. Let me tell you, I love living in a small town. Bought tickets 10 minutes before it started and walked right in to the theater. Warning: the move is LONG. Very, very long. over 2 hours long. It was awesome. It held my attention the entire time. I’m so glad that I had just watched the first movie, because this one picks up where the first one ended. Loved it! Go see it. I don’t want to say too much b/c I don’t want to spoil it. Go, go, go! Oh, and take your man with you. He’ll appreciate it and you can probably get a chick flick the next round for being so nice and taking him. : )
Guess what I started today? No. I didn’t clean. No. I’m not giving up anything. No, not that either! Fine. I’ll just tell you. school. Not teaching, but attending. The tables are being turned on me. I’m in a Geometry class for a couple of weeks. It will help me become highly qualified and the credits go towards a pay raise. : ) BUT, I actually have homework, projects, and a final. Ugh! I feel like my kids. lol Did I mention that I have to go an hour and a half away from home just to get to school? that I have to be there at 8 AM? that I like to sleep? that I like to sleep late? oh, and that I have to teach high school geometry next year? ME?! I just started to love my Algebra I, but duty calls in another form.
I’ll leave you with a pic….

My hair is short and curly and Lucky is her beautiful self. She has such a natural beauty. : ) and so does her daughter…..

Happy Birthday, BFF! I am so lucky to have you as a friend. We’ve only been friends for a couple of years, but you have always been around to support me. We’ve held each other up through so many things. We’ve laughed together. We’ve cried together. We’ve stayed out late. We’ve gotten up early for our garage sale. We’ve shared ice cream. We’ve shared clothes. We’ve shared secrets. I am so happy to have you in my life. I look forward to many, many more years and memories together. I’m sorry that I am not there for this year’s celebration. You’ll have a little something from me when you get back from cheer camp. Ooh, I almost forgot about cheer camp! We’ve done that together, too. : ) I love you! I miss you!

Is it wrong that I just went to the liquor store and filled my truck with boxes for a project at school? The kids are going to paint them. I guess I should explain my project first. I’m looking for something to keep my overly active 14-year olds busy. We are drawing plans for birdhouses on graph paper on a small scale then creating a paper model. After the paper model, we are building the houses out of cardboard and painting them. Then, (almost done) the classes are going to vote on the best 4 to be made out of wood and placed into our habitat. So, is it wrong that the cardboard has liquor logos on them until we paint them? I promise to make them paint over all logos/symbols.
BTW, I got a haircut today.

I don’t know how many of you realized that is was Holocaust Awareness Week. Our fabulous Language Arts teachers in 8th grade are completing a unit on the Holocaust. They are comparing stories and books. The kids are really getting into it and hopefully, it will make them think about their own behaviors. The students all wore paper clips everyday and made sure to offer them to other students and adults that didn’t have one. You can read about the paper clips here. On top of all that, they decided to make a visual representation of those that lost their lives.

In case you can’t read it, the blue flags represent non-Jews and the yellow flags represent Jews. One flag represents 10,000 individuals that died in the Holocaust.

The kids did a great job and were all so proud! There were a few more posters out there with explanations and several with pictures and stories of victims.

Well, I woke up Thursday morning to snow. It was on the ground, in the trees, everywhere. I knew we were getting a storm, but I figured we would get a light dusting. No cleaning off the truck. It would be more like rain. It’s been warm. We got snow.
My truck had to be cleaned off. Here is a view from my windshield.

And, here is a few of me with snowflakes in my hair. Happy May 1st!
I’m thinking about cutting my hair. It’s getting so long. Any thoughts??

I love the Bellagio. It’s beautiful. The water show was amazing. This picture is from in front of the hotel facing the Paris. (like you can’t see that or something)

This one was taken outside of Cesar’s Palace. I loved all of the fountains and they are everywhere.

I made it to a show. I wasn’t sure that I would like it because I’m not necessarily a Monty Python fan, but it was fabulous. We had a great time.

In every casino that we went there was really cool stuff hanging from the ceiling. The Bellagio had glass artwork. The Wynn had what looked like umbrellas. It was really pretty.

I took this one for Marshell….(the bike not the light fixtures. I can’t make wordpress separate my words from that picture. ? I tried. If typing all of this works - Yeah! If not, please be assured that my brother is only interested in the motorcycle.)
The famous Treasure Island boats….(I didn’t get to see the entire performance. We always missed it by a few minutes. I hear it is nothing like it used to be.)

I drove to Vail the Saturday before I flew to Vegas for the Ben Harper concert. It was (of course) freakin’ amazing. I met up with my friend Kristen (KK) and her boyfriend Ryan.

It was cold and snowing in Vail. It took a while to find a parking spot, but I finally did in the garage. The walk to the concert was slippery. I skated and attempted to walk on about 3 inches of packed snow. Who am I kidding? It was pretty much ice and I almost fell about four times. I did stop and take the picture that is above. I love to see snow on the river. I don’t know why, but water is always beautiful. A lake, a river, the ocean, you get the point. And before some smart ass comments, water in nature is beautiful. Water in the toilet bowl is not. Moving on. At first I was a little scared about standing outside in the snow to listen to KK’s crush. I’m a little thing. I get cold. But, once you get in the middle of a crowd and have a beer…it was very comfortable. And there was fire because people had to light their pipes and joints. This is the third time that I have Ben Harper since I moved to Colorado. The first time was at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Festival. I met up with another teacher and her parents. I think I had a contact high that night. Wow! Welcome to Colorado! The second time was in October at the Orpheum in Memphis. I remember being a little upset that people were firing up IN the Orpheum. I love it and want it to always be beautiful. So, I wasn’t surprised that I felt a little funny when leaving or that KK lost her phone. Anyway, Ben Harper is amazing. If you ever get the chance to see him, you should. I leave you with one last picture from the concert. : )

All of the kids were so excited to be at the top of the hill. They had their carefully engineered sleds. They had their helmets. They had their dreams….. Ready….Set….Go…….um, yeah. We need to use more duct tape next year. lol Most sleds didn’t “go” as much as they were dragged down the hill on the first run.

They were pushed down the hill. They rolled down the hill. They skated down the hill. Only one sled (made by a group of girls) made it down with just a push. It went fast! It was so much fun! I thought we were going to go off the jump, but I was stuck in the middle and couldn’t bail out. The sleds started falling apart so the kids were just grabbing pieces and taking off down the hill after the first run.

A few things….
- I’m getting sick (again). I suddenly developed a cough again on Saturday and it is only getting worse. My head is heavy and very congested.
- I woke up with 5 or 6 inches of SNOW on the ground this morning. Yes, it is the last day of March. Yes, it is officially Spring.
- It continued to snow ALL day long. Aspen received 13″ today. Talk about fresh powder! At times, I couldn’t see out the windows at school. It’s been warm enough that the streets were fine.
- I survived the first day back from Spring Break.
- Vegas, I’m coming soon! One of my fellow teacher friends bought us all tickets to a show. (I now have to come up with money to pay her back and didn’t ask for the ticket in the first place. hmm…)
- Did I mention that I can’t breathe? Because I’m really having a hard time.
- Today was the first day of the LAST quarter of school. Time has gone by so quickly.
- I don’t know why I’m using bullets or what else I have to talk about right now.
So, I am going to leave you with a picture of the most precious baby girl in the world. (I’ve been showing her off ALL day.)
