My first elk experience…

I went back to work today. We had a work day in the morning. This afternoon all of the “Newbies” had to go to a vocab workshop in another city just up valley. On the way, we saw a huge herd of elk hanging out on the golf course. Yes, that’s right the golf course! They come down from the mountains when it gets too cold. They hang out, eat, watch intelligent people that trespass idiots like me take their picture. It’s so amazing to see so many animals. Huge, wild creatures that are just doing their thing. It’s not obvious that I grew up in the city is it? lol Next Christmas, birthday, or some other day, I want a new camera!!! There was one elk that had a huge rack, but I don’t have a zoom so you can’t see it in any of the pictures. : ( In case you don’t know, click on the little pictures and they will enlarge. Don’t forget to check out all of the snow. You can Mt. Sopris in the background of the picture below.

We drove around a gated community so I could take these pictures. It’s funny when you act like you know where you are going, no one says a thing. I got out of the truck and walked up towards the elk to take a few pictures. They just stared at me. A few looked like they wanted to run, but thought what is that little girl going to do to us. I’ll post Christmas pics later. I was too excited about the elk to do that tonight.

I almost forgot the homes that the elk are wandering around are worth at the very least a million if not five. They have to put fencing up around all of their bushes and trees so the elk won’t eat them. Can you imagine? Not only having to protect your home, but looking out your window and seeing all of them. Wow! I live in Colorado!
