I killed my knee running on the cross country team in college. It is really hard on your joints. I haven't run since before my first pregnancy, until about 3 weeks ago and a walk/jogged about a mile and was sore but not in pain. ONe thing that does help is having shoes that fit properly. try Fleet Feet next time you need shoes and they will watch you run in them to make sure they are a good fit for your running style.
